The First Step to a Safe & Healthy Journey.
Congratulations on your new beginning! Pregnancy is a time of joy, but it also brings many changes to your body. Your health is now shared with your growing baby.
The first few months are critical for the baby’s development. Certain conditions—like low thyroid, low iron, or silent infections—can affect the baby’s growth without you feeling any symptoms.
The Pregnancy Profile – Basic is the standard medical safety check recommended for every expectant mother in her First Trimester. It covers the essential tests required to ensure a smooth path to delivery.
What This Profile Covers & Why It Matters
This profile acts as a “Safety Shield,” checking for anemia, infections, and blood compatibility issues:
1. The “Growth & Oxygen” Check (Complete Hemogram)
-
Tests: Hemoglobin, PCV, RBC Count, Platelets.
-
The Advantage:
-
Anemia Check: Your blood volume increases during pregnancy, often diluting your iron levels. We check if you have enough Hemoglobin to carry oxygen to the baby.
-
Platelets: Essential for blood clotting during delivery.
-
2. The “Safety” Screen (Blood Group & Rh Factor)
-
Tests: ABO Grouping & Rh Typing.
-
The Advantage:
-
The Rh Factor: This is critical. If the mother is Rh Negative (e.g., A Negative) and the baby is Positive, complications can arise in the next pregnancy or at birth. Knowing this early allows your doctor to give you a protective injection (Anti-D).
-
3. The “Silent Infection” Panel (Viral Markers)
-
Tests: HIV 1&2, HBsAg (Hepatitis B), VDRL (Syphilis).
-
The Advantage:
-
These infections can be passed from mother to child during birth.
-
Prevention: If detected early, doctors can take simple steps to protect the baby completely. These tests are mandatory for hospital registration.
-
4. The “Brain & Metabolic” Check (Thyroid & Sugar)
-
Tests: TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone), Random Blood Sugar (RBS).
-
The Advantage:
-
TSH: The baby relies entirely on the mother’s thyroid hormones for Brain Development in the first 3 months. Even a slightly high TSH needs immediate correction.
-
Sugar: Screens for early signs of Gestational Diabetes.
-
5. The “Kidney & Hygiene” Check
-
Tests: Urine Routine & Microscopy.
-
The Advantage:
-
UTI Screen: Urinary Tract Infections are very common in pregnancy and can sometimes trigger early labor. We catch them before they become serious.
-
Protein Check: Protein in urine can be an early warning sign of high blood pressure (Preeclampsia).
-
Who Should Book This Test?
-
Newly Pregnant: Ideally between the 6th and 12th week of pregnancy.
-
Confirmation: Women who have just tested positive on a home pregnancy kit.
-
Transfer Cases: If you are moving to a new city/doctor and need a fresh file of basic reports.
Patient Preparation
-
Sample: Blood (Serum/EDTA) & Urine.
-
Fasting: Not Mandatory. You can take this test at any time of the day.
-
Note: If your doctor specifically asked for “Fasting Sugar,” please fast for 8 hours. Otherwise, “Random Sugar” is sufficient for this basic screen.
-
-
Hydration: Drink plenty of water before coming so you can easily provide the urine sample.
